Whitko Won't Have To Cut Staff

PIERCETON - Despite budget shortfall, Whitko School Corp. won't need to cut any teachers for the 2009-10 school year.

The Whitko School Board met Monday night at the administration building in Pierceton to discuss staffing and budget issues.

"We didn't have to cut any staff," said Superintendent Steve Clason. "Every teacher who wanted to come back could come back. We have our teachers back and we're proud of that."[[In-content Ad]]Clason attributed keeping all the teacher to staff restructuring and hard work on the budget.

The school board will review their 2010 budget before their Aug. 17 meeting. The school board will hold an executive session at 6 p.m., meet new staff at 7 p.m., review the budget at 7:30 p.m. then hold their regular meeting at 7:45 p.m.

During Monday's brief meeting, the board also:

n Approved a child nutrition program.

n Approved permission for preschool transportation for the 2009-10 school year.

n Approved the textbook rental fees and annual field trips for the 2009-10 school year.
