Whitko Girls Soccer Shuts Out Peru In TRC Action

PERU – Whitko had five different players score goals in a 5-0 girls soccer win over Peru Monday evening.
Senior Mikayla Findley opened the scoring, then classmates Emily Jones and Alexis Fortman followed, the latter on an assist from Riley Insley.
Juniors Insley and Abby Overmeyer closed out the scoring for the Lady Wildcats. Senior goalkeeper Ilyssa Bennett was credited with a pair of saves.
The Lady Wildcats close out their regular season Wednesday with a match at Columbia City.

Boys Tennis
Monday in North Manchester
Manchester got wins in both doubles matches and at No. 1 singles to beat visiting Rochester on the Squires’ Senior Night.
Senior Max Karg was the winner at No. 1 singles for Manchester, beating Jackson Sawyer 6-4, 6-0. Seniors Noah Cain and Matthew Pegg lost just one game in their straight-set win at No. 1 doubles.
Heath Dierks and Luke Donathan secured the Squire win with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles over Chase Brown and Carlton Mullet.
Manchester will take on Wabash in the first round of the Peru Sectional Wednesday.

Whitko swept all three singles matches and won at No. 2 doubles in a 4-1 win over visiting Churubusco to close out its regular season Monday.
All the Wildcat wins were in straight sets, with Bailey Platt, Cory Hersha and Alex Bechtold winning singles matches, and the doubles team of Bill Stump and Andy Bowyer also won.
Tim Gensch and Nic Rose lost in a closely-contested, three-set match. Whitko will open sectional play against host Warsaw at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Columbia City earned a five-set win over visiting Whitko 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 15-6 Monday evening.
Kaitlyn Reed had 27 kills and 35 digs for the Lady Wildcats. Haley Yohe added 40 Assists and three kills, with Whitney Marsh contributing three blocks and seven kills. Lyndsey Sapp had four blocks and three kills.
Whitko travels to Bunker Hill for a match with Maconaquah tonight.

Monday in Bourbon
Nichole Sechrist had 11 kills and 11 digs, and Quinn Downing had 17 digs in Triton’s 25-22, 25-13, 25-18 sweep of Winamac in Hoosier North Athletic Conference play in the Trojan Trench.
Jaela Meister added five kills and nine digs for the Lady Trojans, and Emma Ross had eight digs and an ace in the match.
The junior varsity lost in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17.
Triton plays in the Dunes Club Tournament in Rolling Prairie on Saturday.

Sophomore Kayla Scott led the Lady Vikings with a pair of aces.
