By Staff Report-

DECATUR – Whitko used a six-run fifth inning to take an 8-4 lead over Bellmont. But the Braves, who received votes in this week’s Indiana Baseball Coaches Association 3A poll, came right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Bellmont then scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth, and retired the Wildcats 1-2-3 in the seventh to earn a 11-8 win over Whitko Friday evening.
The Wildcats scored first with a single run in the top of the second, but Bellmont answered with two runs in both the second and third innings before the rallies started for both teams.
The visitors had only four base hits, including a double from Drew Anderson. But the Wildcats were the beneficiaries of seven walks issued by the Braves’ Austin Knous, who got the win despite the free passes and giving up six runs.
Whitko will finish its road trip with a trip to Poneto to play a doubleheader with the Southern Wells Raiders on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
