PIERCETON – The Whitko School Board approved a bond sale for the end of June at its monthly meeting Monday night.
According to Whitko Chief Financial Officer Tom McFarland, the sale will total  $625,000.
The sale will be open to the public.
The majority of the revenue from the bond sale will go to improving the infrastructure and wiring of the computer systems of Whitko schools. A portion of it will go toward hardware for the schools as well.
“The main purpose is to get the wiring done in phase one,” said McFarland in a phone interview this morning.
Barb Ihnen will no longer be principal at Pierceton Elementary effective June 30.
“It was a really hard decision,” said Ihnen. “I was not looking for a job at all.”
But Ihnen found a way to fulfill her passion in early childhood development with Metro North Elementary in Wabash County. The school is for kindergarten through third grade.
Ihnen has been with Pierceton for three years. She was with Marion Community Schools before that as the early childhood administer grant coordinator.
She will maintain her residence in North Manchester.
Superintendent Steve Clason will be in charge for the committee to find Ihnen’s replacement.
“I prayed a lot about this decision, and I’m praying about who will take my place,” said Ihnen.
Ihnen said her departure from Pierceton is amicable, and the hardest part of her decision was leaving the students and faculty.[[In-content Ad]]
