Angie Shirk announced Monday that she is resigning as executive director of the Warsaw Housing Authority.

Shirk, who has served as the agency's director since June, has decided to step down from the position to spend more time with her family.

Because of the amount of time required to fulfill the job duties, Shirk said, she didn't feel her job or her family were benefiting from her 100 percent.

Shirk's last day is May 12, but she said she may be back with the agency in some capacity in the future.

"I've enjoyed getting to know and working with members of the community and serving the residents of Warsaw and Kosciusko County," Shirk said.

The announcement of Shirk's resignation came during Monday's WHA board of commissioners meeting.

The search is on for a replacement for Shirk.

Also during the WHA meeting, it was announced that the owner-occupied rehabilitation projects in Warsaw and Pierceton are preparing for contractors to bid on properties slated for rehabilitation.

The city of Warsaw received a $300,000 grant to be administered through Housing Opportunities of Warsaw to repair up to 17 homes, while the town of Pierceton will use $200,000 to rehabilitate 10 homes.

Applications are still being accepted for the projects.

The WHA board comprises Bob Kline, Sherri Ruggier-Milton, Sue Charlton, Tom Lemon, Dennis Cultice and city council representative Bill Rhoades. The board meets at 5:15 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month in the office of Lemon, Armey, Hearn & Leininger. [[In-content Ad]]
