INDIANAPOLIS – WGU Indiana, the state’s online, nonprofit university established for working adults pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, has instituted a new scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa honor society members.

The university seeks to attract the best and brightest transfer students from two-year colleges/universities to WGU Indiana. Each scholarship is valued up to $2,000.

“We are pleased to offer these scholarships to motivated Phi Theta Kappa members with an associate degree who wish to go further and earn a bachelor’s degree,” WGU Indiana Chancellor Allison Barber said. “Our flexible, accredited and affordable model is specifically designed for those with some college experience to take their education to higher levels.”

Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree program and must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree (part-time students may be eligible). Multiple scholarships will be awarded. This is a competitive program based upon a candidate’s academic record, financial need, readiness for online study, and current competency, plus other considerations.

Earlier this year, WGU Indiana became a member of CollegeFish.org, a web tool created by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society to aid community college students as they plan their future after community college, either through transfer to a four-year institution in pursuit of a baccalaureate degree, or by entering the workforce. CollegeFish.org brings together community college students, admission counselors, advisors, administrators and scholarship partners – all on one site.

WGU Indiana offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in four high-demand career fields – business, information technology, education and health professions, including nursing. Its flat-rate tuition has never increased, providing affordable access to a high-quality education for approximately $6,000 per year.
