Wendell Eugene McCane, 67, of Rochester, died at 4:26 p.m. June 26, 2010, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

He was born Feb. 7, 1943, in LaGrange, Ky., to Daniel Julius and Anna Penick McCane. On April 7, 1965, in Warsaw, he married Arbutus Irene Konkle, who survives.

He moved to Rochester from Claypool 11 years ago. He was a machinist at Zimmer Inc. for 31 years, retiring in 2003.

He was a member of Westside Apostolic Church, Rochester, where he played his electric guitar. He was quiet and prayerful in all things. He loved gardening, starting his garden from seeds in February in his greenhouse. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved to fish, collected knives, especially Case knives; and collected mustache cups.

Also surviving are a son, Devon (and spouse Kassie) McCane, Rochester; a daughter, Kiscia (and spouse David) Harshman, Rochester; four grandchildren: Keyonna, Bree, Colton and Karlee; and two brothers, the Rev. Russell (and spouse Linda) McCane, Campbellsburg, Ky., and Daniel (and spouse Nadine) McCane, Milton, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Juanita Chandler.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by the Rev. Michael Rohrer of Westside Apostolic Church, Rochester. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
