NORTH MANCHESTER - Wendall N. Lahr, 78, of North Manchester, died at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 1, 2007, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Roanoke, to Cleatus and Lucy Sloniker Lahr. On March 13, 1949, he married Mary M. Rupert, who survives.

He retired from farming and from Eaton Controls Co. He was a member of North Manchester United Methodist Church and graduated from Clear Creek High School, Huntington County, in 1947.

Also surviving are three sons: Monty Lahr, Grafton, Wis.; Gale Lahr, Bluffton; and Lanty Lahr, North Manchester; three daughters: Mrs. Dennis (Teran) Cook, Indianapolis; Mrs. Rick (Dawn) Michel, Columbia City; and Mrs. Bill (Tammie) McNeeley, North Manchester; a brother, Phil Lahr, New Haven; two sisters, Miriam Whitestine, Fort Wayne, and Donna Anderson, Huntington County; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at North Manchester United Methodist Church with Pastor David Overmyer officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
