Webster Hears Options For Future Of Elementary School Building

NORTH WEBSTER - Town council members held a short meeting Wednesday with Kay Andrews and Ken Wagner attending. Myron Clark was absent.
Bob Murphy of R.P. Murphy and Associates, Larwill, attended the meeting advising the board of possible state funding available regarding the North Webster Elementary School building's future use if the town was interested in aquiring the building.
It was noted the school board plans public input meetings regarding the building and the Chamber of Commerce is in the midst of a strategic planning project for the community in conjunction with Ball State University.
Marshall Minnick, public works director, gave a brief report regarding South Street repairs, saying the project was going well.
Town marshal Jerry Craig noted 15 adult arrests were made, an increase over last month.
A listing of streets acquired by recent annexations were given. They are: Arbor Vista Drive, Esterbrook Drive, CR 825E (north of CR 550N); W32 Lane, Blaine Street south to the Tippecanoe River, Overlook Drive, Panarama Drive and Viewpoint Drive, effective Feb. 28, 1997; Mid-Lake Drive, effective August 1998; North T K Way and Brookside Drive, effective November 1997.
The town is named lien holder of Culver Hill, the senior citizen duplexes on the north side of town. The Housing Assistance Office of South Bend owns the complex and the town secured funds for the organization.
The town budget was approved Monday with all three board members present. The 2000 budget is as follows: general fund, $449,715; motor vehicle, $88,000; local roads and streets, $27,780; cumulative capital improvement, $46,728, cumulative capital development, $10,000 and continuing education, $2,000.
