The Warsaw Community Schools bus garage that was destroyed in a fire six months ago was demolished last week.
The fire occurred Jan. 7 and in addition to the garage itself, five buses and a shop truck also were damaged.
Cheryl Cook, Warsaw Community Schools transportation director, said the corporation will work on design plans for a new bus garage and will then seek bids, but a time period has not yet been determined.
“The bus garage has been demolished and there are plans to rebuild on the same site,” Cook said.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the cause of the fire is also continuing.
Michael Wilson, Warsaw-Wayne Township fire chief, said private investigators and Joe Fretz, the Warsaw-Wayne Township fire department fire marshal, were at the site in early April trying to determine the cause of the fire.
“They collected items of interest from the area where the fire started and secured them in a private laboratory for further testing,” Wilson said.
Wilson declined to say what type of items were collected.
Wilson said it will be an extended length of time to determine the cause of the fire due to the extensive damage to the bus garage.[[In-content Ad]]
