After the school board approved the personnel report, Superintendent Dr. Craig Hintz announced Chief Academic Officer David Hoffert was promoted to assistant superintendent effective Jan. 1.
Reading the press release, Hintz said, “The title change restores a position that was eliminated a number of years ago. The size and complexity of our system is commensurate with other systems in the state who have determined the need for a similar position. Mr. Hoffert will continue to serve as the chief academic officer while also taking on expanded duties and opportunities provided by the superintendent.”
He continued, “Personally, I interacted with David for a couple of years before his return to WCS, and I have continued to mentor and prepare him to be a strong candidate to succeed me in the future.”
School Board President Jennifer Tandy is quoted in the press release as saying, “David is from Warsaw and knows our school system very well. He brings an outstanding skill set to this position, and we are confident that he will serve as a strong assistant to the superintendent. David’s leadership and professionalism as our chief academic officer has continued to enhance the opportunities we have available for the students at WCS.”
Hoffert has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Anderson University, a master’s degree in education from Olivet Nazarene University, a principal licensure from Indiana Wesleyan University, an education specialist’s degree from Indiana State University and an Indiana superintendent’s license. Hoffert currently is pursuing a doctorate from ISU with anticipated completion in 2014.
Prior to returning to Warsaw Community Schools in 2011, Hoffert served as principal of Northfield Junior-Senior High School in Wabash. He was a social studies teacher and coach at Warsaw Community High School before working at Northfield.
When Hintz asked Hoffert if he had any comments about his promotion, Hoffert replied, “Just how thankful I am to be here. We talk about dreams and enriching the lives of others inside of our mission statement so much, and I think that’s what hits hard home with me the most. I do mean that as a Warsaw graduate, but I also mean to come back here and be just like the teachers and educators that impacted my life so much. I am so thankful to come back here as an educator and then come back here a couple of years later as an administrator, so thank you for the opportunity and the faith in me to impact our students.”[[In-content Ad]]
