Twenty-seven Warsaw Community High School students attended the Indiana Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State Leadership Conference March 6-8.[[In-content Ad]]Twenty-five of them received Gold Medals, and two received Silver Medals. That's a Warsaw record, according to FCCLA teachers and advisors Ronna Kawsky and Becky Snyder. Eleven of the Gold winners achieved the highest score in the state, and six received the second highest.

State winners will compete at the national level in Florida July 11-18.

Students competed in Indiana State FCCLA projects or National Students Taking Action with Recognition Events. These students have completed community service projects and/or informational presentations. They also compiled a speech, then presented their project before a panel of judges.

Kawsky said FCCLA is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by members. It is the only career and technical in-school student organization with family as its central focus. Participation in state programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers and communities, she said.
