The Warsaw Community Development Corp. is looking for event sponsors for Downtown Days.

"I'm just hoping that I get sponsorship," events chairman Paula Bowman said. "We couldn't survive without sponsorship."

Downtown Days will be July 21 through 23 and will celebrate Warsaw's 125th year as a city.

"Things actually are progressing pretty well," Bowman said of the celebration planning.

Michelle Bormet, secretary to Warsaw's mayor, has been doing her part of the planning as well.

Bormet is currently adding Downtown Days information to the city's Web site.

Bormet said there will be an updated list of events for the celebration and those sponsoring the events will get their names and logos on the Web site as well.

"It'll be growing and expanding as events are put together," Bormet said of the Web site.

With so many events planned, sponsorship is key.

Bowman said sponsorship is needed for the following events: pie-eating contest, beard contest, mayor's contest, car show trophies, dash plaques, car show coordinator, port-a-potties, tent, Sweet Adelines/Barbershop, parade trophies, Dillinger relay, bed race, water ball, sailboat races, flotilla, ice cream social, swing band and fireworks.

Bowman also said the events committee is still looking for a carousel. The carousel will be located on either Buffalo or Main street.

"I really want a carousel," Bowman said.

Besides a carousel, Bowman is also looking for someone to "take charge of the water events."

The water events include the flotilla, sailboat races and raft-row regatta.

Those interested in sponsoring an event for Downtown Days should contact Bowman at 269-3535. Bowman also will answer any questions concerning the events.

The events committee for Downtown Days includes: Bowman, Bormet, Cindy Dobbins, Warsaw Parks Activity Director Andy McCleary, Pat Brown, Carmen Locke, Dorothy Harris, Father Brian Gratz, Chris Sanchez, Tom Becket, Tom Bugg and Susan Derr. [[In-content Ad]]
