July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
Board members who will serve on the Warsaw Community Development Corp. Board of Directors have been selected, but a secretary still is needed.
The board elected members at its annual meeting Saturday at Mad Anthony's, WCDC executive director Carmen Lock said during the board of directors meeting Tuesday.
Members who were re-elected include President Clint Pletcher, Treasurer Jay Baumgartner and Executive Director Carmen Lock.
Lock presented a letter from former vice president Susan Allen who said she wants to resign from the board. Former WCDC treasurer Cindy Dobbins will replace Allen.
"Susan has been a good member over the years and we hate to see her go," Lock said.
Lock said a secretary is still needed and the executive committee hopes to fill the position and vote next month.
Avis Gunter, who has served on the board for 12 years, announced her resignation as a board member during the meeting.
WCDC Board of Directors President Clint Pletcher said Gunter will be missed.
"Avis has been a vital part of our board and we appreciate all of the work she has done," Pletcher said.
Lock reported Tower Bank, on the corner of Main and Buffalo streets, will break ground the first of the year.
She said street department and Oakwood Cemetery workers began installing Christmas lights downtown Tuesday and will continue today.
Jon Garber, parks department superintendent, said Christmas lights are scheduled to be installed at Center Lake Pavilion by Dec. 1. He said new to this year's lights is a lighted sign that says "Merry Christmas" hanging from the pavilion and an eight-foot Christmas light on the south end of the pavilion.
Stephanie Salyer, events committee chairperson for WCDC, said there are seven new members who have joined the committee, and activities for 2007 are being planned and will be shared at the January meeting.
Mary Ellen Rudisel-Jordan, of Scearce Rudisel Architects, attended Tuesday's meeting and said the Historic Landmarks Advisory Board will meet Jan. 28 in Warsaw to look at downtown apartments.
The board will meet again Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at 117 W. Center St. [[In-content Ad]]
