He was born July 15, 1941, at the family’s home in Pierceton, to Frank and Hazel Elder Phillips. On July 31, 1964, he married Judy L. Mettler, who survives.
He attended Pierceton High School. He worked at Big Boy Products for 22 years, Fiber Form and retired from Paragon in 2002. He loved being with his family and adored his wife of 51 years, children, granddaughters and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, spending time at his cabin in Canada and tinkering around with lawnmowers.
He also is survived by two daughters, Sherry Palmer and Dawn Owens, both of Pierceton; a son, Doug Phillips, Columbia City; a sister, Wanda (and spouse Allan) Anders, Pierceton; a brother, Richard (and spouse Jean) Phillips, Syracuse; two granddaughters, Falyn Owens and Miranda Kinion; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Pauline Sibert and Zelma Slusher; and a brother, Bob Robinson.
Private services will be at a later date.
