Wawasee Win Streak Ends At Two

LIGONIER - After winning two consecutive games, Wawasee's varsity boys basketball team fell 73-58 at West Noble Saturday.

West Noble outscored the Warriors 21-12 in the first quarter and led 40-31 at halftime. Wawasee continued to keep it close to a single-digit deficit, trailing by 10 after three quarters of play. The Chargers outscored Wawasee 23-18 in the final frame, accounting for the 15-point decision.

Senior Jeremy High led a quartet of Warriors in double figures with 13 points. Brent Doty added 12 points, while Travis Klenke and Andrew Packer scored 10 points apiece.

Wawasee falls to 2-8 overall with the loss and will be in action again Friday in a Northern Lakes Conference battle at Northridge.

The Cougars dropped a heartbreaking game on Saturday night to drop their record to 4-5.

Lakeland fought back from an 11-point fourth quarter deficit to send the game into overtime. In overtime, top scorer Aaron Hood fouled out with 25 points.

Matt Boren fouled out in regulation after a steller 11-point, seven-rebound performance. Tim Buckholtz also had a big game for the Cougars scoring 20 points.

Lakeland will next be in action at home against KCHE on Tuesday.

The Cougars were able to avenge an earlier loss to Kokomo with a triumph in the semifinal round of the NICI tournament. LCA started slow falling behind by 14 points at one point in the first half, but the team played great defense in the third quarter.

The Cougars outscored their opponent 20-7 in the third quarter. Lakeland was led by the excellent play of senior Tim Buckholtz, who scored 15 of his

game-high 19 points in the second half. Will Harman had a great game as well, contributing 11 points and 6 rebounds. Jon Poppenfoose led

the Cougars in rebounding with 11 boards.
