LIGONIER – Wawasee closed out its gymnastics season with a narrow 96.65-92.55 win over West Noble Monday evening.
Reagan Atwood led the way for the Lady Warriors, finishing first in the all-around competition. Atwood won the uneven bars and tied for first with West Noble’s Andrea Huntsman on the vault and beam and in the floor exercise.
Lady Warrior seniors Taylor Busse and Molly Smith were held out to recover from injuries suffered two weeks ago. Head coach Nika Prather said the plan is to have the duo ready for Saturday’s sectional at Wawasee.
“We were hoping to end our season on a high note, with a victory,” said Prather. “We were successful and that gives us confidence going into the sectional championships this Saturday. Taylor and Molly are still out of the lineup, but we hope to have them back by Saturday’s meet.”
The sectional includes DeKalb, Angola, Elkhart Central, East Noble, Lakeland, Plymouth, Warsaw, West Noble and Westview. The competition begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. The top six individuals and top three teams advance to the Huntington North regional March 13.[[In-content Ad]]
