Wawasee Goes Pop With 'A Tribute To Disney'

SYRACUSE - If you can't get to Disney World at the moment, let the Wawasee High School Choral Department take you on a musical journey there.

May 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m., the Wawasee choirs will present the Pops Spectacular 2010 in the high school auditorium. This year's theme is "A Tribute to Disney".

Tickets are $7 for adults, and $4 for children 12 years old and younger.

Director Connie Meadows said the department has been working very hard to present this show, and it is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. There will be many favorite Disney songs presented through song and dance. Disney characters also will make special appearances, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse in full costume.

Vocal Motion will present a "Tarzan" medley with special jungle props, "Be Our Guest" from "Beauty and the Beast" and a repeat of last year's crowd-pleaser "Under the Sea" from "The Little Mermaid".

The Advanced Chorus girls will sing to "Scales and Arpeggios" from "The Aristocats," accompanied by ballet steps, as well as "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" from "Lilo and Stitch".

The Beginning Chorus will entertain with a "Mary Poppins" medley and "You've Got a Friend in Me" from "Toy Story 2".

All of the girls in the choir will sing and dance to a "Princess Medley" that begins with "Heigh Ho", along with an appearance by the seven dwarfs and Snow White. All of the boys in the department will entertain the audiences with "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" from "Lion King".

The Vocal Motion men and Alexis Linnemeier will dazzle with the song "Cruella De Vil".

There also will be a "Lion King" medley.[[In-content Ad]]Emcees for the show are Katherine Allen, Nicholas Frecker, Alexis Linnemeier, Sarah Semones and Timothy Vanover.
