Wawasee Choir Grooves Back To The 1970s

SYRACUSE – Nothing says the 1970s more than polyester.
So with the theme of “Forever Polyester,” the Wawasee High School Choral Department will present its 2015 Pops Show at 7:30 p.m. May 15 and 16 in the high school auditorium.
Song, dance, wild costuming, lighting, special effects, comedy and laughter all will be a part of the tribute to the music of the ’70s, according to Director of Choirs Connie Meadows.
A sample of the songs that will be performed include “Higher Ground,” “I Just Want To Celebrate,” “September,” “Sing a Song,” “War,” “Tell You Something Good,” “Dancing Queen,” “Corner of the Sky,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Free Ride,” “I Want You Back/ABC,” “Joy to the World,” “Boogie Fever,” “Boogie Wonderland,” “Funky Town,” “I Will Survive” and “YMCA.”
There also will be a medley of rock band Queen songs, and a flashback to “Schoolhouse Rock.”
Choreographers for the show are Veronica Runyon, Ethan Wright and Allyson Weaver.
Costumes were designed and made by Deb Sweazy.
MCs for the show will be Jonas Clayton, Taylor Heck, Allyson Weaver and Ethan Wright.
Tickets may be purchased from any choir student or by calling Wawasee High School at 574-457-3147. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and under.
