Jim and Jane Garvin, Newburgh, and Dennis and Doris Wathen, Henderson, Ky., announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Wathen, Fort Wayne, to Spencer Schipper, Waterford, Mich. He is the son of Steve and Sheila Schipper, Macy.

The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Reitz Memorial High School, Evansville, and received a bachelor's degree from Huntington University in 2005. She received a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2008. She is a case worker at Crossoad Fort Wayne Children's Home.

The groom-elect is a 2001 graduate North Miami High School, Denver, and a 2005 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Terre Haute, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in biomedical engineering. He is a Diesel Calibration Engineer at CAV Engineering, Auburn Hills, Mich.
