The Argonne Road waterline project began Jan. 15 and plans are to have it completed around May 15.

The Argonne Road project is part of Indiana American Water's continued efforts to bring dependable reliable service and fire protection to the community, according to Chris Harrison, Indiana American Water operations superintendent.

Currently, 70 percent of the 12-inch main has been installed.[[In-content Ad]]The project includes nine new hydrants being installed and replacing five existing units.

The design phase of the project began two years ago and the project was bid for construction in December.

More than $3.1 million has been invested into the Warsaw district since Jan. 1, 2007.

Harrison said service will be upgraded, providing better water quality and pressure throughout the area.

"Aging infrastructure can impact our community from the water from our taps, providing fire protection to the economic growth or our community," Harrison said.

Harrison said the Argonne Road project is a huge improvement for Warsaw and Winona Lake. He said 5,700 feet (almost a mile) of 12-inch water main is scheduled to be installed on Parker Street and Argonne Road.

Harrison said the project will enhance fire protection on to Kosciusko Community Hospital and spur future development on Husky Trail.

The section of water main will provide a second source of supply to Winona Lake.
