Warsaw's Future

Folks, the owners of many of the homes in our town are 60+ and soon they are going to be leaving their homes for a smaller place.
Our city was very lucky in the past to have the orthopedic industry as its base employer, providing many higher-paying jobs.
However, those same jobs as they go away because of retirees,  are being replaced by “temp” jobs at a much lower scale.
Now banks don’t like loaning money to people with temp jobs.
So as these current owners leave their homes, the young people cannot afford the price along with the taxes and everything you need today to raise a family, even if they could get a loan to buy the homes.
The school board just ran through an amendment to take out a bond for $39 million to build yet more schools that we really could get by without with some proper maintenance. The impact this will have is much higher taxes on every home in the district and our local farms will be hit the hardest.
They ran the amendment through saying it was for the kids.
The problem is it will take 20 years to it pay back, and our orthopedic industry is changing starting with temp jobs and the sales of companies to bigger companies and downsizing.
I do not see any big employers on the horizon for Warsaw because we are not equipped to bring them here due to the inexperience in any real business by our local leader.
The state of Indiana passed a bill like Wisconsin did that basically says people do not have to pay or join unions if they feel that don't want or need to, so unions are dying here.
The leaders in Indiana and other states helped in the short term with jobs, but in the long term the companies get away with slave labor and people can’t afford to live like we, the older generation, did for the last 40 years.
Therefore, who will pay these new school taxes except the very few left with jobs, and they are becoming the minority very quickly?
Corporate America is killing America by sending jobs away for profit, only to cut the very throats of their customers.
I think the way to teach children is not to build new buildings but to pay the teacher the highest wages possible, to ensure the best of our best become teachers and pass on their knowledge to the young.
The world is being run by greedy idiots, but it is being paid for by the sweat and blood of the ambitious hard-working citizens.
So we can build all the big city halls we want along with schools and municipal buildings, but that’s not going to fix our main problem for the future. So how do we bring new, decent, gainful employment opportunities for our young people here to Warsaw, Indiana, so they can pay back our huge debt?
The road ahead of us all is very scary indeed, so please do not put your head in the sand and laugh – it is going to be tough on all of us.
For those that believe in the Lord we will be OK, but as for the America and our hometown we knew … Greed has stolen the stripes from her flag and borrowed against her stars.
