DUNLAP - Warsaw's dual wrestling season concluded with a solid 55-19 win against Concord, as the Tigers took seven out of 10 contests on the mat.

Two Tiger sophomores who have thus far had rather tough seasons came away with satisfying wins. Coach Tony Boley said, "I was happy to see those two guys go out there and use the technique we taught them."

After receiving a couple of forfeits at 189 pounds and 215, the Tigers sent Nate Wilson (275) to the mat to face Derek Dodson. Wilson went out on the attack, planning to win. As the Concord wrestler was warned by the official for stalling, Wilson nailed a takedown. Then in period two a stalling point was awarded to Wilson, who then summarily turned Dodson on his back and racked up a fall at the 2:44 mark.

After another forfeit was awarded to Warsaw at 103 pounds, Kent Nielsen (119) lost 9-3 in his match against Sean Allison. The team score was then 30-3, in favor of the Tigers.

Nick Missos (119) charged out of the blocks for the Tigers, intent on fighting hard against Mike Dines. Missos quickly scored a takedown and a nearfall in period one. In the second period, from the down position, Missos was the victim of an illegal full nelson and received a penalty point. Then the Tiger sophomore deftly reversed control and put Dines to his back, registering a fall in 3:16.

Warsaw's Andrew Lauster (125) was bested by senior Nick Gearhart, who used tilts and stacks to rack up five nearfalls for a 15-0 tech fall.

Matt Elvidge (130) encountered Alex Dubois and collected five takedowns in period one, with Duck-unders and Double-legs to go up 10-4. From the defensive position in the second period, Elvidge popped out on top and stuck his opponent at 2:30.

Senior Chris Elvidge (135) twice used a reverse cradle to score points in his 14-0 rout of Derrick Ferrier. The Tigers then gave up their forfeit at 140 pounds, after which Andy Keener (145) came out and pinned Ed Wadsworth in 3:39.

The match at 152 pounds was like watching a couple of tree trunks banging against each other as senior Bobby Derbyshire tussled with Will Kado. After a scoreless first period, Derbyshire grabbed a pair of takedowns with a fireman's carry. Kado escaped from the defensive position in the third period and simply could not outmuscle the Tiger senior. In a bit of frustration Kado, led with his head trying to tackle Derbyshire, and caught him squarely in the face, giving Derbyshire a bloody nose, a penalty point and the victory by a score of 5-3.

Boley commented, "We are proud of our two seniors who finish up their Tiger careers, coming through with big wins."

Warsaw's Blake Deaton (160) was bent and twisted by Brandon Urednick who amassed 17 points for a tech fall. Deaton, who weighs in at 151, was simply unable to outmuscle the larger Minuteman. Finally Tom Lowe (171) concluded the evening for the Tigers by tangling up Kyle Allen and showing him the lights at 2:29.

Warsaw travels to Northridge for the Northern Lakes Conference individual tournament Saturday. Team scores in this event combined with season records will determine the conference championship. Warsaw concludes the season 13-6 overall and 3-3 in the NLC. The sectional tournament will be held again at Plymouth, on Jan. 29.
