However, Wonda and Perry Ray Rogers have created a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling family photo library in their Warsaw home.
The photo library represents the past 44 years of their life together.
The family photo library is in a 12-foot by 12-foot room with shelving that holds more than 120 photo albums worth of photos labeled on the front and back sides. There are four walls in the room covered with photo frames.
In addition to the family photo library, they have individual photo albums on shelves in the room of their grandchildren, children, themselves and their parents.
Wonda said she created the family photo library as a tribute to her husband, Perry Ray. The Rogers have been married for 44 years, and marked their anniversary Jan. 30.
The Rogers have photos dating back to their ancestors in the 1800s.
Wonda’s idea to create the family photo library all began when her husband became ill in 2005 and she began taking photos.
“I wanted my grandchildren to know more about their grandpa than just that he worked at Dalton Foundry for 33 years so that is why I began making the photo frames,” Wonda said.
Perry Rogers joked his wife has been carrying a camera since they were married. He said he is honored his wife created a family photo library for him.
She said the first photo frame she put together was a framed photo display of her husband.
The frame has a photo of Perry Ray with watermelons he grew that are 62 pounds each.
There also is a photo of them when they first dated when she was 16, and he was 21, and a photo of their honeymoon home in Winona Lake.
The family photo library grew to include their son, Rick Rogers, and his family, and daughter, Candi Kintzel, and her family.
Wonda began looking up her husband’s ancestors and his brother, Bud Rogers, sent the Rogers photos of Perry Ray’s ancestors.
She created a photo library of both her and Perry Ray’s ancestors dating back to 1869.
“I hope my kids and grandkids will continue the family photo library forward,” Wonda said.
The Rogers currently have five grandchildren, and the youngest is 20 and the oldest is 25.
She has a photo frame with immediate family members including her father, her grandmother and grandfather, herself, her son, her daughter and her five grandchildren.
There also is a photo frame displaying her first car, a 1989 Camaro. In 2000 she turned 50, and her husband purchased her a Trans Am so she has a photo frame with her and the car.
She also has photo displays chronicling her and her husband’s careers.[[In-content Ad]]
