Kellar arrested Tara McClone, 30, of 3278 W. CR 700S, Claypool, for resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a Class A misdemeanor; failure to identify, a Class C misdemeanor; and battery by bodily waste on a law enforcement officer, a Class D felony.
In addition, McClone was cited for disregarding a stop sign, failure to signal a turn, failure to yield to a moving emergency vehicle and expired registration.
At 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to the police report, Kellar was on patrol when he saw a vehicle at the intersection of CRs 425W and 900S not come to a complete stop. As soon as he caught up to the blue Chevrolet Trailblazer, he attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but was unable to do so. The vehicle did not stop and continued to elude Kellar.
Kellar continued to follow the vehicle until it stopped in the driveway of 4056 W. Elmwood St.
Kellar got out of his vehicle waiting for McClone to run, but she did not. McClone stepped out of the vehicle and stood in the driveway. Kellar ordered McClone to step back to her, but she refused.
According to the police report, she yelled, “No, I didn’t do anything.”
At this point Kellar noticed McClone had put her hands in her pockets and pulled out a black object, which she pointed at Kellar like a gun. She then turned the object on and Kellar realized it was a flashlight.
Kellar ordered McClone to drop the flashlight but she yelled, “No, leave me alone.”
After arguing with McClone, Kellar subdued her and handcuffed her. Kellar then went to check the vehicle for additional subjects. He did not find any, and when he came back to McClone, she had slipped out of the handcuffs. Kellar then subdued McClone again and she yelled at him that he could not touch her because she was a woman. While Kellar was handcuffing McClone for the second time, she told Kellar to “(expletive) off!”
Once Kellar had McClone in handcuffs, he asked her what her name was and she refused to give it to him and continued to yell at him.
Kellar then radioed dispatch for additional backup. Kellar looked inside the car for identification, but found none. He asked her once again to identify herself and she refused. He then informed her that it was a crime to not do so and she told Kellar to “(expletive) off!”
In the process of trying to identify McClone, Kellar asked dispatch to run a check on the vehicle identification number on the Trailblazer. The vehicle was registered to a Matthew Holland from Indianapolis.
While Kellar walked away from McClone, he heard her spit at him and the other officers confirmed that she had spit at him. Kellar and the other officers picked McClone off the ground and put her face first on the patrol car so she could not spit at him anymore. In the process of doing so she attempted to kick Kellar in the groin.
Sgt. Rick Shepherd arrived on scene and suspected the woman was Tara McClone, since he had dealt with her previously. After checking with dispatch it was confirmed that the woman was McClone.
McClone was arrested and her vehicle was impounded. McClone was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail on $2,000 bond. She bonded out Wednesday.[[In-content Ad]]
