They do unto others as they would have them do unto them.
Making sure those in need are helped this Christmas has been a priority for the Warsaw couple.[[In-content Ad]]They adopted two families through Combined Community Service's Adopt-A-Family program, and a family through Rob's work at R & B Car Company, South Bend, where he is a sales manager.
Veronica, 28, a stay at home mother, caring for her 3-year old daughter Veronica, was one of hundreds of people who purchased a $100 raffle ticket from Warsaw Housing Authority's Win-A-House raffle.
People could purchase a $100 raffle ticket, and each $100 donation brought in $1,000 of federal money to replace leaking roofs, repair septic systems and install heating systems to make homes safer for families.
The proceeds from the raffle will be used to repair homes of low-to-moderate income, elderly, and disabled families in Kosciusko County.
Veronica's name was drawn from the raffle Saturday at Mutual Bank, Warsaw, to win $24,712.12. The funds came out of $77,400 raised through raffle ticket sales.
There were 3,000 tickets needed to be sold for the brand-new house to be raffled off, but only 774 tickets were sold so the house was not raffled off, according to HOW Board President Tammy Keirn.
The 3-bedroom home with a 2-car garage will go back on the market.
Veronica purchased a raffle ticket in September at Mutual Bank in hopes of winning the house at 33 Sassafras Court, Warsaw, that was being raffled of by HOW. The home was built by Coffel Construction, Bremen.
HOW has been selling raffle tickets Aug. 1-Saturday for the $215,000 brand-new home.
Veronica said her name being drawn was an answer to prayer.
Veronica was notified Saturday afternoon that her ticket was drawn Saturday at Mutual Bank.
Pam Kennedy, HOW executive director, called Veronica Saturday after Veronica's name was drawn from the raffle to notify her that her name had been drawn.
Veronica said she was at home at the time Kennedy called, and the first person she called was her husband Rob, who was at work.
"My hands were shaking when I got the call that I had won the money, and all I can do is thank God for this because it is an answer to prayer," Boley said.
Rob said he told his co-workers his wife won the funds who were as surprised as he was.
"Winning the money is an added benefit to Christmas, and we hope others can benefit from our giving of some of the funds we received," Rob said.
Veronica came with her daughter and her stepfather Wayne Beery, mother Connie Beery, brother Brian Beery and sister Rachel Beery to Mutual Bank Saturday to accept the raffle prize.
The Boleys plan to donate some of the money they won to help Warsaw Community Church, where they are members.
They will donate money to missionaries at their church, and also donate money that will go into the church's care fund to help those in the county.
They also will have money left over to pay off Veronica's student loan debt.
