Warsaw Woman Authors Practical Guide on Healthy Eating

Eating healthy should not be intimidating or cause you to panic, but should be enjoyable and easy, according to Lindsay Reinholt.
Reinholt, of Warsaw, knows all about how eating can affect living conditions, as she began dealing with gluten intolerance  almost four years ago. This intolerance, combined with her desire to help teach others about the negative effects of diets and the importance of whole food, inspired Reinholt to write and self publish the book “Meant To Eat: A Practical Guide To Developing A Healthy Relationship With Food.”  
“We all eat,” Reinholt said in an interview Wednesday, “It (eating healthy) shouldn’t be difficult.”
“Meant To Eat” is Reinholt’s guide to approaching whole foods and the lifestyle required to be healthy. The book, which she released on Amazon and Kindle April 25, is broken into three sections.
Reinholt also took the steps to become credible in the health field. She is a certified health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and teaches fitness courses at the Kosciusko County YMCA.
In the first section, she explains why fad diets rarely work and what they should be replaced with.
Big change diets often have drastic results for weight loss, but they also come with hormonal and metabolism changes that can make keeping weight off difficult, Reinholt says. The mentality that “you can’t eat that” takes the fun out of eating, and Reinholt stresses that eating should be fun. She advises that choosing whole foods over processed foods and listening to one’s own body is key.
The second section of the book explains to readers that believing in the healthy lifestyle is just as important as what they eat. Reinholt includes anecdotes about her own struggles, which she admits she has a lot of, and the exercises she uses to confront them.
This part focuses on the self-reflection needed for a healthy life. Actions like following multiple fitness models on Instagram and dieting “because your friends are doing it” can be negative motivators to be healthy, she explains. Healthy eating should be invigorating and feel natural, compared to forcing a diet that makes people miserable.
Reinholt’s book closes with a section all about implementation. She teaches readers about smart snacking, like grabbing protein rich peanuts as opposed to carb-ridden chips or crackers.
One of her most basic tips is to just eat less sugar. Whether someone consumes high-fructose corn syrup or table sugar, consuming less sugar will always be beneficial. She also suggests planning out meals for the week and freezing leftovers for easy meals in the future.
Reinholt, originally from central Indiana, moved to Warsaw with her husband, Mitch, several years ago. She taught Spanish at Warsaw High School before deciding that healthy eating was her passion. The Reinholts have a daughter, Winnie, who is 18 months old. Reinholt is due with her second child in August.
She held her first book signing at May’s First Friday last week, where she sold copies of her paperback and shared her knowledge with anyone who would listen.
This Friday, Reinholt will have two book signing events. From 1 to 4 p.m., she will be at the Latte Lounge, South Buffalo Street, Warsaw. Then she will be at Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture from 4:30 to  7 p.m. Pulse FM will be at the furniture store to help get the word out about what she is doing with her book. She will be selling and signing copies, as well as explaining her cause and meeting people interested in becoming healthier.
