Several items on the Warsaw School Board's Monday night meeting agenda will concern the school building project.

The Indiana Department of Local Government and Finance has approved Step 1 of Option A for $59.16 million.[[In-content Ad]]Warsaw Schools had asked for $65 million.

The school board Monday will consider two resolutions for purchasing property for a new Leesburg Elementary School and a new Madison Elementary School.

The property for a new LES surrounds the current school. There are 11 tracts of ground being considered, ranging from 0.08 acres to 5.22 acres.

Madison's new location is by U.S. 30 and CRs 150W and 200N. Only one tract of ground totaling 42 acres is involved.

On May 21, the school board approved moving forward with Step 1 of Option A. Step 1 includes replacing Leesburg Elementary with a new four-section school for $16 million; expanding and renovating Claypool and Jefferson schools for $10 million each; and replacing Madison with a new four-section school for $16 million. The total bond issue for Step 1 was estimated by architectural firm Kovert Hawkins to be $65 million.

The State Tax Control Board approved Warsaw's building project and forwarded a favorable recommendation to Commission Cheryl Musgrave in August. Musgrave recently approved the project at $59.16 million.

Also at Monday's meeting, Jamie Lake, Kovert Hawkins, will provide an overview of the next steps toward replacement of the Leesburg and Madison facilities.

Lake will preview the process by which the corporation will completely renovate the existing portions of Claypool Elementary and construct new additions to the existing site. The final portion of the presentation will be discussion on renovating the 1976 portion of Jefferson Elementary and new construction of that site.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday at the central administration building.
