Warsaw School Board Reorganizes For 2008

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

Warsaw Community Schools Board of School Trustees reorganized for 2008 during a special meeting Monday.

The board voted to keep the office holders the same for 2008 as 2007. Ron Yeiter will continue to serve as president, Dan Robinson as vice president and Gene England as secretary.

Meetings will be held the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m.

The board approved a resolution naming Erica Purvis as WCS treasurer for 2008; Jean Shively as deputy treasurer; Kay Kelly as public records access officer; setting copy fee for records at 10 cents per page; naming the officers and members of the board of finance the same as the board of school trustees; setting board compensation for 2008 in accordance with Indiana statutes and board policy; naming Lake City Bank as cash management provider; naming Max E. Reed as WCS school board attorney; and designating the Times-Union as the advertiser of legal notices to the public.

For board compensation for 2008, each board member will receive a base pay of $2,000. For each regular meeting a school board attends, they receive $112 each, and $62 for each committee meeting. The amount does not exceed what the state has set forth as legal compensation for board members, according to School Superintendent Dr. Robert Haworth. The maximum a school board member can receive in a year, according to Chief Financial Officer Kevin Scott, is $4,000, as set by board policy.

In other business, the board:

- Approved the second reading of a policy limiting administrative contracts to two years, except the superintendent's contract which is limited to three years.

Robinson said the resolution appears to affect specific individuals. However, it has nothing to do with their performance.

"Don't misread this as something to do with performance. It does not," he said.

- Haworth said the community meeting on the balanced schedule for Warsaw Schools will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Harrison Elementary School gym. The meeting for tonight was canceled due to the weather conditions.

Warsaw School Board members are Yeiter, Robinson, England, Delores Hearn, Tammy Dalton, Chuck Sauders and Deb Wiggins.[[In-content Ad]]
