Warsaw Plan Commission Monday reviewed an ordinance for accessory structures.
Tim Dombrosky, assistant city planner, presented the proposed changes that include: no obstructions taller than 3 feet are to be placed within 6 inches of a public sidewalk; an accessory structure is defined as a structure that has an entry of at least standard size or larger; and no more than two free-standing accessory buildings are to be permitted per zone lot.
Jeremy Skinner, city planner, said he will bring back the changes in ordinance form during the May meeting.
He said three to four residents are wanting accessory structure permits.
Jeff Grose, commission member, thanked the building and planning department for their work on the accessory structure changes.
“I appreciate the effort. It is less restrictive and easier to follow,” Grose said.
City Council will need to review and approve the ordinance in June.
In other business, Skinner presented information on flood hazard areas for the city and asked the commission to review it. The city has until Sept. 30 to approve a flood hazard area ordinance. The city will not get the flood maps until it passes an ordinance, Skinner said.[[In-content Ad]]
