Plan commission member Rick Keeven made a motion for the preliminary plat, and Jim Gast seconded the motion. Jeff Grose made the motion for the final plat, and Tammy Dalton seconded the motion.
Developer Thompson & Thrift requested the plan commission approve the preliminary and final plat for replat of lots 1C and 1D of the Nye-Brandt Plat.
The plats were approved for Taco Bell and Aspen Dental to be at the northwest corner of CR 300N and Ind. 15N in Warsaw on 2.1 acres of land.
The outlot is west of Kohl’s along Ind. 15N.
The developer began moving dirt last week at the site, and the estimated completion date of Taco Bell and Aspen Dental is in November, according to Jeremy Skinner, Warsaw city planner.
Skinner said the businesses will open late this year or early next year.
Also during the meeting, Jeffrey Brown, Warsaw resident, approached the commission saying he was under the impression that the signs at Hank’s Tattoo is OK to keep up and display.
He, however, said he thought Take Action was asked to remove the word “tattoo” in its sign.
“I find it very amusing that the gun shops on Ind. 15 are displaying the words guns and ammo, but the word tattoo is so taboo,” Brown said. “I was not aware my tattoos were more dangerous and damning to the public than guns and ammo.”
Skinner said the city previously approved the city amending the city’s zoning ordinance to permit tattoo parlors within a C-3, C-5, I-1 and I-2 zoning districts.
Skinner said C-2 zoning districts, because of the neighborhood commercial use, were left as special exceptions for tattoo establishments.
Take Action is in a C-2 zoning district, and Hank’s Tattoo is in a C-3 commercial district found on major highways and thoroughfares.[[In-content Ad]]
