The plat is not adding or changing any existing lots, but removing drainage and utility easements that were originally platted on the north side of the second lot of the Nye-Brandt Plat.
The plat was requested by Don Potter, Thompson Thrift, who attended Monday night’s meeting.
Jeremy Skinner, Warsaw city planner, said the state has rules for wetland mitigation, and with the addition of the new retail outlots an easement is needed for stormwater.
In other business, Skinner informed the council the commission will be working on updating the city’s comprehensive plan in 2013.
A subcommittee will be formed to select a consultant to update the comprehensive plan.
Skinner said an effective comprehensive plan lasts 10 to 15 years. The city’s comprehensive plan was last updated in 1998.
Skinner said it will be a long and intensive process to update the plan. He expects the plan to take a year to update.
Skinner welcomed Kim Arnold, who previously served as the Warsaw Police Department’s records clerk. Arnold now serves as the building and planning department administration assistant.
Arnold replaces Connie Bowman, who is retiring after eight years of serving.
Jim Gast, commission member, asked if a bypass is possible for Ind. 15S.
“If it was me at this point I would not be jumping up and down for a bypass because I don’t think the traffic is enough to warrant a bypass,” Skinner said.
Skinner informed the commission the new city hall on Buffalo Street will be moved into Dec. 17-18.
Skinner said the city will consider all of its options for the existing city hall on Market Street.
“The ideal situation will be to find a user for the current city hall,” Skinner said.[[In-content Ad]]
