Meijer is slated to open mid-May in Warsaw.
A Meijer gas station also will open at the store on U.S. 30 and Anchorage Road.
Construction of the $15 million, 190,000-square-foot store began last spring. It will employ 250 full- and part-time workers.
Contractor Rockford Construction Co., Grand Rapids, Mich., is set to turn the building over to Meijer officials at the end of March, according to Jeremy Skinner, Warsaw city planner.
The exterior work on the Meijer building has been completed, and interior work is still being done.
The Meijer gas station also has been completed.
Skinner said after the store is turned over to Meijer officials, there will be six to eight weeks of stocking sale items and training will be conducted before the store is scheduled to open in mid May.
Meijer issued a release Wednesday that said $160 million will be invested on a combination of six new and five remodeled stores in the midwest.
Besides Warsaw, Portage will have a new supercenter open this summer. The Grand-Rapids, Mich.-based grocer also will open two stores each in Michigan and Illinois this year.
Remodeling is slated at multiple sites in Michigan and Illinois.
Meijer operates 199 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. It has 28 locations in Indiana.[[In-content Ad]]
