Hampton filed three counts of forgery, Class C felonies, and three counts of theft, Class D felonies, stemming from alleged incidents at the Auto Park, Warsaw, between April 24 and 27.
If convicted of all counts, Swanson, 29, of 1951 E. Wade Road, Warsaw, could spend 36 years in prison.
Swanson was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:57 p.m. Friday on a warrant issued by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
The initial bond was set at $5,000.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 24, a customer came into the Auto Park and asked the manager, Mark Thomason, why they had not received a $1,500 refund check that was supposed to be sent out to them.
Thomason checked the books and allegedly found that Swanson, a former employee, had taken the check and cashed it in his name.
Thomason found there were allegedly five other customers that never received referral checks. Allegedly, Swanson cashed five $100 referral checks.
Swanson also faces unrelated charges in a May 18 bar fight at Rex’s Rendezvous, 204 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw.
Swanson is charged with aggravated assault, a Class B felony, after allegedly punching a Warsaw man twice in the face.
Swanson’s lawyer, J. Brad Voelz, filed a motion for continuance during a pre-trial conference Thursday, in which Swanson was not present. A pre-trial conference has been rescheduled for Aug. 30 at 8:30 a.m.
