A Warsaw man faces charges for theft and auto theft, and the charges are being enhanced because he failed to register as a sex offender.
James Cable, 44, of 1523 N. Fox Farm Road, was taking care of a man’s horses while the man was out of town in April. At this time, Cable stole three chain saws and two impact wrenches, valued at $800, from the premises, according to the probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. He then attempted to sell them.
On April 13, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputy met with the potential buyer of the items. The buyer told the deputy that Cable told him he could have the tools for $300, then left them at his house. Cable allegedly told the buyer, “You know what I do, but they’re not from around here.”
Then on April 16, Cable stole a white 2000 Chevrolet S10 and drove to Illinois, the affidavit states. The owner reported this to KCSD. Perry County (Ill.) Sheriff’s Department contacted KCSD on April 22, having found the S10 in DuGoin, Ill.
Cable has a history of auto theft dating back to 2007, according to the affidavit. He also failed to register as a sex offender twice.
Cable was arrested Monday and booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a $11,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
