According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, a Warsaw Police Department officer responded to a report of burglary on Oct. 22 and spoke with the victim. The victim said he had left his residence that morning, returning some hours later to find a window broken out and his door open. He further advised his black Xbox 360 Kinect, a special edition red and black Gears of War Xbox 360 and several Xbox games were stolen.
The victim told police that earlier that day, he had received a text message from Chans Mackenzie Cochran, 20, of 1908 Ironwood Drive, Warsaw, asking him what he was doing. The victim responded, telling Cochran he was at work. The victim suspected it was Cochran who broke into his home after verifying he wasn’t there.
The officer proceeded to meet with an employee at Game Stop who advised she had received a call from an individual looking for a power cord for a special edition red and black Gears of War Xbox 360. When the employee said she carried the power cord, the individual said he would come by the store and purchase the power cord shortly.
Through further investigation, the officer discovered the individual purchasing the power cord had purchased the gaming system from Cochran. The officer confirmed it was the same gaming system stolen from the victim’s residence. Officers then searched Cochran’s home and found an Xbox Kinect being indentified as stolen from the victim’s residence as well.
Cochran was subsequently arrested Wednesday for felony burglary and theft and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on a $20,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
