By Staff Report-

A Warsaw man was arrested Saturday and charged with child molesting, a Class C felony, after he admitted to having a lengthy relationship with an underage girl.
Jeff Allen Haney, 48, of 418 S. High St., Warsaw, was arrested Saturday at 12:26 p.m. and charged with child molesting, fondling or touching a child under 14 years of age.
Haney’s arrest followed a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigation that began Nov. 26 when an officer spoke with the father of a 15-year-old girl with whom Haney, a former employee of the father’s, had sent inappropriate calls, texts and emails, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. The father told the officer he first caught Haney holding the girl’s hand in July 2011, when she was 12, and told him to stop contacting her.
The officer then spoke with the girl, who said she and Haney began talking and texting in the summer of 2011, and that Haney “talked about how much he liked to be with virgins.” She also told the officer she would sneak out of the house to talk with Haney and kiss.
She further told the officer about another incident in June 2012, when she met Haney in a grassy area on the north-east side of Warsaw and he kissed her body inappropriately.
Haney admitted to officers “being friends with (the girl) and the relationship grew deeper,” according to the affidavit, and said he met secretly with her on eight occasions and that they would hold hands.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Saturday on a $5,000 bond, according to booking information.
