A Warsaw man was arrested Thursday on a warrant for robbery resulting in bodily injury and theft following a December 2013 incident.
According to an affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, a Warsaw Police Department officer spoke with the victim Dec. 24, who advised he was at a party at Comfort Inn in Warsaw and was having a conversation with another individual about how he had won $5,000 in a fantasy football contest.
Later, a male subject approached the victim and asked him to enter the bedroom to smoke a cigarette. As the two men entered the bedroom, Jason Waikel, 35, of 1041 N. Park Ave., Warsaw, followed them and struck the victim in the face with his fists several times and with his knee.
The victim told police that Waikel then pulled the victim’s hoodie over his head and ordered him to empty his pockets, so he removed $6 and a debit card and laid them on the bed. The victim said Waikel and the second man then left the room, though Waikel allegedly returned to the bedroom again and searched the victim again, asking him if he worked for the police.
Waikel was arrested Thursday and charged with felony robbery resulting in bodily injury and felony theft and held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
