Warsaw Man Arrested For Burglary, Auto Theft

A man out on bond for allegedly shoplifting and impersonating a police officer at a local grocery store this weekend was arrested Wednesday evening for reportedly breaking into a residence and stealing a vehicle.

Zachary Thomas Taylor, 20, of 4157 W. CR 200S, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday for burglary to a permanent residence, theft and auto theft. His bond was set at $10,000.

According to the Warsaw Police Department, Taylor allegedly broke into a residence at 866 Pine Mills Road, Warsaw, which belongs to one of his acquaintances.

After reportedly forcing a door open, Taylor took the keys to a truck and left the residence in it.

Taylor was found about two hours later when police made a traffic stop and reportedly discovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

While Taylor was at the police station being questioned about the traffic stop, the vehicle he was driving during the stop was reported stolen.[[In-content Ad]]Taylor was arrested early Saturday morning after he allegedly tried to steal alcohol from Owen's Supermarket, Center Street, Warsaw. When he was caught, Taylor reportedly told employees at the store that he was a police officer. He was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 5:31 a.m. Saturday for shoplifting, possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor and impersonating a police officer. His bond from that incident was $2,000.

The incidents remain under investigation by the Warsaw Police Department.
