Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees Monday heard an update on the library's property acquisition.

The board previously approved an agreement between WCPL and Windy's Service, 229 E. Center St., Warsaw.

The agreement was for WCPL to purchase the Windy's Service property to create parking for library patrons.[[In-content Ad]]The agreement was contingent on an environmental site assessment being conducted on the property.

Pending environmental testing, the acquisition would create 14 additional parking spaces to be used by library patrons for parking.

The library currently has 70 parking spaces and is in need of additional parking spaces due to increased usage at the library, according to WCPL Director Ann Zydek.

During Monday's meeting, Zydek said the environmental site assessment will be conducted on the Windy's Service property today.

If the environmental testing turns out positively, plans are to create the 14 additional parking spaces in the spring.

Also during the meeting, the board approved a one-time salary increase for library employees.

The board approved staff development days for Jan. 28, May 13 and Sept. 23.

A computer usage and Internet-acceptable use policy revision was approved.

The revision states that though it is not recommended by the library, it is possible to purchase certain goods and services via the Internet, which would result in unwanted financial obligations for which a minor's parent or guardian would be liable.

A library card issuance policy revision also was approved that requires a child who is not a Kosciusko County resident to be at least 5 years old to have a library card.
