Warsaw Kickers Lead Roundup With Win Over Plymouth

After giving up a goal in the first three minutes Tuesday, Warsaw’s Lady Tigers came roaring back to secure a 6-1 girls soccer win over visiting Plymouth in the Northern Lakes Conference opener for both teams.
Anna Reimink scored the equalizer in the 21st minute from 30 yards out. Elizabeth Van Wormer scored one minute later, and assisted on Anna Sullivan’s goal in the 37th minute.
Sullivan opened the Warsaw second-half scoring, with her second goal coming in the 65th minute. Van Wormer scored a second goal on an assist by Sydney Wiedeman two minutes later. The favor was reversed in the 73rd minute when Wiedeman scored off a Van Wormer feed.
Warsaw is now 3-0 on the season and has outscored the opposition 20-2 in the season-opening stretch.
The Lady Tiger JV team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Lady Pilgrims.
The teams return to action Thursday when they travel to Nappanee for matches with NorthWood.

Tuesday in Syracuse
Wawasee and visiting Manchester played to a scoreless tie in a girls soccer match Tuesday.
The Lady Squires had four shots on goal, and Kiera Stacy had seven saves.
Wawasee coach Doug Heinisch said via fax  “a back and forth game that saw a few good opportunities on both sides. Manchester controlled most of the first half, and Wawasee most of the second.”
Manchester will host Oak Hill on Thursday. Wawasee returns to the pitch Saturday when it opens Northern Lakes Conference play at Concord.
Boys Soccer
Tuesday in North Manchester
Manchester scored an easy 12-0 win over visiting Caston Tuesday night.
Colin McNeeley scored four times for the Squires, Braydon Sewell twice, and Koltyn Alexander, Jake Schannep, Nathan Self, Mathias McLaughlin, Noah Beck, and Brandon Wagoner once each. Manchester had 39 shots on goal to Caston’s three, and the Squires used 30 players in the game.
Now 2-0-1 on the season, Manchester hosts its invitational tournament on Saturday.

Tuesday in Fort Wayne
Visiting Warsaw dropped a 3-0 decision to Fort Wayne Northrop Tuesday afternoon.
“Fort Wayne Northrop’s field was not in our favor this evening,” said Tiger head coach Frank Courtois via e-mail. “It was muddy and in poor condition. (We) gave up an early goal and just didn’t come prepared to play.”
The Tiger JV played to a 1-1 tie with Northrop, with Dominic Smith scoring in the seventh minute for Warsaw.
The Tigers fell to 1-2 on the season and will open Northern Lakes Conference play Thursday when they host Plymouth.

Volleyball
Tuesday in Winamac
Tippecanoe Valley earned a three-game volleyball sweep over Winamac, 26-24, 25-16 and 25-14.
Maddy Henninger had 19 assists for the Lady Vikings. Abby Betten added 18 kills, and Shayleigh Shriver had five service aces. Sophie Bussard and Lexi O’Connell had two blocks each, and Olivia Trippiedi recorded seven digs.
The Lady Viking JV lost to Winamac in three sets.
Now 3-1 on the season, Valley will host Wabash in Three Rivers Conference play Thursday.

Tuesday in Churubusco
Visiting Whitko beat Churubusco in a closely contested five-game volleyball match 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 16-25, 15-13.
Kaitlyn Reed had 20 kills and Brianna Tackett added 10 more for the Lady Wildcats. Emily Day had eight kills and Haley Yohe was credited with 40 assists in the match.
Whitko will host Manchester in a Three Rivers Conference matchup at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Tuesday in Bremen
Visiting Triton secured a three-game sweep of Bremen 25-12, 25-22, 25-14 Tuesday evening.
Quinn Downing and Nichole Sechrist had a pair of service aces each for the Lady Trojans. Hannah Wanemacher had a dozen assists, and Jaela Meister added eight kills to the Triton offense.
Triton will travel to Royal Center to take on Pioneer on Thursday.

Tuesday in Albion
After winning the first game, Wawasee fell 3-1 to host Central Noble. The game scores were 26-24, 21-25, 22-25, 17-25.
Ashley Beer had 17 digs and Seaquinn Bright added 16 for the Lady Warriors. Bright and Liz Hardy had seven kills each, and Meghan Fretz recorded six blocks for Wawasee.
The Wawasee JV won its match in three sets, 25-23, 20-25, 15-8. Olivia Clouse had 10 kills, and Courtney Larson added five kills and three blocks. Faith Swihart had five aces for the JV team.
Wawasee will take a 1-7 record into its home match with Bethany Christian Thursday night.

Boys Tennis
Tuesday in Wabash
Tippecanoe Valley won both doubles matches, but lost all three singles matches to drop a 3-2 decision to Wabash.
Dakota Parker and Seth Hoffman needed a third-set tiebreaker to beat Matt Stein and Austin Black. Parker Dalrymple and Kane Steller recorded a straight-set win over John Stewert and Gage Miller.
The Valley JV swept all three of its matches. The doubles team of Garrett Feldman and Dylan Sponseller won in a tiebreaker, as did Chris Schipper at No. 1 singles. Keegan Larimer won his match 8-2 over Gage Ballard.
Valley returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Peru.

Only one match, Dalton Bailey and Chase butler at No. 1 doubles, needed three sets to win. The other four matches saw the Trojans lose only 13 games in eight sets.
The Trojans continue HNAC play when they host LaVille Tuesday.

Now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the NLC, the Lady Tigers will host Concord and Wawasee at Stonehenge this afternoon.

Kylee Rostochak turned in the low score for Wawasee with a 42, and Mikala Mawhorter was a stroke back. Randi Dunn of Plymouth was the medalist with a 41.
Wawasee will take a 2-0 NLC record, and 9-0 overall, into this afternoon’s conference match with Concord and host Warsaw.
