Warsaw Girls Soccer Stays Unbeaten With 4-3 Win Over Memorial

Elizabeth Van Wormer had a hat trick to lead Warsaw to a 4-3 Northern Lakes Conference win over visiting Elkhart Memorial Tuesday, allowing Warsaw to stay unbeaten in the 2015 season.
After Memorial drew first blood, the Lady Tigers tied the game in the 23rd minute on Van Wormer’s first goal, assisted by Julie Frazzetta.
After being tied at halftime, Van Wormer scored in the 46th and 48th minutes, assisted by Anna Grill each time. Grill then got a goal of her own in the 51st minute, assisted by Brenna Shipley.
Warsaw had allowed five goals in its first seven matches before Memorial scored three times, including twice in the second half, before the Lady Tigers could secure the win.
The Lady Tiger JV team also won their game 6-1.
Warsaw, now 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference, continues NLC play Thursday when it hosts Concord.

Volleyball
Tuesday in Middlebury
Visiting Warsaw fell in three sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 to the Northridge Lady Raiders Tuesday night.
Lady Tiger starters Cassie Hoag and Peyton Adameic were not available for the match. Katie Bragg led Warsaw with 48 assists.
Warsaw will host East Noble this evening.

Brianna Tackett had two blocks and six kills, and Haley Yohe added four aces and 16 assists in Whitko’s 25-10, 25-17, 25-5 home win over Three Rivers Conference foe Peru.
Kaitlyn Reed was credited with eight digs, six aces and five kills for the Lady Wildcats. Emily Hughes and Emily Day had four kills and two aces each in the winning effort.
The Whitko JV was also victorious 25-23, 25-8.
Next up for Whitko, now 9-3 and 2-0 in the TRC, is a rematch with Manchester.  The two TRC teams played a five-set, non-conference thriller won by the Lady Squires on Aug. 27.

Tuesday in North Manchester
After winning the opening set, Manchester fell 21-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-20 to Columbia City in a non-conference volleyball match.
The Lady Squires JV team also lost 25-19, 25-16.
Manchester will host a Three Rivers Conference match with Whitko on Thursday.

Statistical leaders for the Lady Vikings were Abby Betten with 15 kills, Maddy Henninger and Shayleigh Shriver with a pair of service aces each, Maddy Henninger with 15 assists and Shayleigh Shriver with 10 digs.
Now 9-5 on the season and 3-1 in the TRC, Valley will host Triton in a non-conference match Thursday.

Triton tripped Hoosier North Athletic Conference foe North Judson 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 Tuesday.
Nichole Sechrist had 10 digs for the Lady Trojans and Jaela Meister had seven kills. Quinn Downing, Meister and Sechrist had two aces each.
The JV also beat North Judson 19-25, 25-23 and 15-12.
The Lady Trojans will travel to Akron to take on Tippecanoe Valley on Thursday.

Warsaw came out strong in the first 20 minutes, and the Tigers’ Edward Esqueda scored an early goal. But Elkhart Memorial came back for the 3-1 Northern Lakes Conference home win Tuesday.
The JV team also fell to Memorial, 2-0.
The Tigers next match is Tuesday when NorthWood comes to town.

Tuesday in North Manchester
Elisel Guerrero, Braydon Sewell and Colin McNeeley all scored goals in the second half to lead Manchester to a 3-0 Three Rivers Conference win over visiting Rochester.
Manchester is now 6-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the TRC, and will travel to Marion and take on Eastbrook.

Boys Tennis
Tuesday in Warsaw
Warsaw got wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles and at No. 1 doubles to edge Northridge 3-2 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Colton Lind was a straight-set winner at No. 2 singles for the Tigers, as was Andrew Gauger at No. 3 singles. Justin Stout and David Homme dropped their first set before winning the last two to clinch the Tiger win.
The Tigers are back in action Thursday evening when they host Fort Wayne Canterbury.
