Warsaw's offense was equally impressive, with the Tigers shooting 62 percent from the floor overall and making 7 of 11 three-point attempts.
It all added up to a 54-29 win over the visiting LaPorte Slicers, as the Tigers improved to 9-1 on the season with their seventh-straight win.
“Our defense is chipping away at getting more solid,” said Ogle, whose team beat Triton 43-24 Friday night. “We held two teams in the 20s on back-to-back nights. I think that's a little impressive.”
It was the first time the Tigers and Slicers have met on the hardwood, and the hosts set the tone early.
Warsaw led 15-9 after one quarter of play, 26-14 at halftime and 42-22 at the end of the third quarter.
The Tigers finished the game 21 of 34 from the field overall and held a 28-9 advantage on the boards.
The Slicers, who fell to 2-5 on the season, were 11 of 33 (33 percent) overall, 5 of 14 from the arc and 2 of 2 at the charity stripe.
Ben Walker, Owen Strieter and Scott Cooper led the Slicers with six points each, while Tyler Littlejohn added four points in the loss.
For Warsaw, depth has been a huge strength this season, and the title of leading scorer has certainly been passed around among the Tigers.
Saturday night was senior Nick Sands’ turn in the spotlight, as the 5-foot-9 guard scored a game-high 17 points after making 6 of 8 shots overall, 4 of 5 attempts from the arc, and 1 of 2 free throws.
“Nick Sands shot well tonight and has been playing pretty well,” said Ogle. “We have an unusual balance. We have six legitmate scorers on this team. That has to be difficult to game plan for.”
Senior Rashaan Jackson added 13 points in the win, while the Mangas brothers – Kyle a sophomore and Jake a senior – scored eight points each.
Junior Riley Rhoades and sophomore Jeremy David chipped in with four points each in the win.
The Tigers are in action again Friday when they host the Northridge Raiders in Northern Lakes Conference action.
