By Staff Report-

On Oct. 5-7, RR Donnelley, Warsaw, hosted the local Boy Scouts of America Lincolnway District Fall Camporee & Cub-O-Rama.
The event was at Donnelley Employees Women’s And Men’s Athletic Complex and sponsored by BSA Troop 730, chartered through the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw.
Lincolnway District is part of the Anthony Wayne Area Council and serves Kosciusko and Whitley counties. Boy Scout Troops & Cub Scout Packs participating in the Camporee & Cub –O- Rama included Scouts from the cities of Warsaw, Columbia City, North Webster, South Whitley, Syracuse, Churubusco, Mentone, Burket, Leesburg, Milford and Pierceton. In addition they had a guest troop from South Bend.
A camporee is a local or regional gathering of Scouting units for a period of camping and common activities.  Lincolnway holds a spring and fall camporee every year. Typically, a camporee involves Scout patrol competitions or integrates work on merit badges. A camporee may be centered on a central theme.  In this case, the Lincolnway District Fall Camporee focused on graphic arts, pulp and paper and the safety merit badges. The Cub-O-Rama (for younger Scouts) included games and other activities Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. More than 330 Scouts and adults attended both events.
The camporee included round-robin events in the morning and afternoon.
In the morning, the events included:  graphic arts classroom, papermaking (with assistance from KC Recycling) and Rubber Chicken Volleyball. Afternoon events included a safety class (with the assistance of a Red Cross certified trainer), screen printing a special district neckerchief and: a tour of RR Donnelley East Plant.
Saturday evening included a flag retirement ceremony. Approximately a dozen American flags were properly retired. This was a potential once-in-a-lifetime experience for some Scouts. The event was lead by a local Scout leader working on his Wood badge Ticket. Wood badge is Scouting’s premier advanced training for Scout leaders.
On Sunday, after tearing down campsites, all remaining Scouts hiked across the street to attend services at the Warsaw Wesleyan Church. Before leaving DEWAMAC, Scouts were treated to a pizza lunch.
