ARGOS - Warsaw's boys soccer team is known for having a strong, potent offense. In the Argos Sectional final Saturday night, the Tigers showed their offensive skills and picked up a 3-0 victory over Culver Military Academy to capture their second straight sectional title.

Within the first five minutes of the game Saturday, Warsaw already had three shots on goal.

However, the CMA goal keeper held off the Warsaw charge until the 24:40 mark of the game. That's when Tiger sophomore Austin Evans kicked a pass from Jake Rogers into the Eagle goal.

While Warsaw outshot CMA 9-6 in the first half and had five shots on goal to CMA's two in the first half, the Tigers held just a 1-0 lead after the first half of play.

However, that changed quickly in the second half.

At the 45:16 mark, a CMA foul led to a Warsaw penalty kick. Tiger junior Bryan Kolbe then converted the penalty kick into a goal to put Warsaw up 2-0.

Less than two minutes later, Jake Rogers scored off an assist from Ben Rice to give Warsaw a 3-0 advantage.

The Tiger defense held the Eagles scoreless through the rest of the game to secure the shutout win for Warsaw.

"We didn't really make any adjustments in the second half," said Warsaw coach Scott Bauer. "We knew they'd try to push up the middle, and we were ready to capitalize on that and catch tem on their heels.

"We also emphasized possession and getting the ball wide to spread them out."

The win makes Warsaw's record 16-2-1 overall. The Tigers advance to Tuesday's regional game at Argos where they will face off against 14-2-3 Penn at 7 p.m. It will be the first meeting for the Tigers and the Kingsmen this season.

"I am proud of the team," said Bauer. "It's hard to repeat as sectional champions. It's always hard to be the favorite, but the guys stepped up and played well."
