Warsaw Boys Pound Oregon-Davis In First Round Of Sectional

ARGOS - The Warsaw Tigers may have been playing at Argos Wednesday in the opening game of the sectional, but they made themselves right at home in a 12-1 win over Oregon-Davis.

The Tigers showed up ready to play and showed it early.

Tiger senior Andrew Sawyer struck first for Warsaw, scoring and unassisted goal at the 10:09 mark.

Just six mminutes later, Keegan McHose connected with Brandon Fruit for another Tiger goal, making the score 2-0 in Warsaw's favor.

At the 21:39 mark, Warsaw scored again when Davis Dominguez found the back of the net. The Tigers went up 4-0 at the 25:05 mark when Dominguez slipped the ball past the keeper for yet another Warsaw goal.

Oregon-Davis picked up its only goal of the match when Justin Egger netted a score at the 26:12 mark in the first half.

Just three minutes before the end of the first half, Dominguez completed the hat-trick, scoring yet another Warsaw goal.

As time ran out of the first half, the Tigers held a decisive 5-1 advantage.

But Warsaw was not finished.

Only two minutes into the second half, Jake Rogers connected for Warsaw's sixth goal of the night.

Ten minutes later, Jordon Quiroz kicked the ball past the Bobcat goalkeeper to make the score 7-1 in Warsaw's favor.

Quiroz struck again just over a minute later when he kicked an Austin Evans pass to the back of the Oregon-Davis goal.

"I think we played a lot better in the first 10 to 15 minutes of the second half,"said Warsaw coach Scott Bauer. "Then I took my starters out and gave some other players a chance to get in and play. All-in-all I am happy to move on."

The Tigers took an 8-1 lead at the 55:06 mark when Rogers scored another goal.

In the final 25 minutes, Warsaw scored three more times as Eric Lane, Tony Perales and Jordan Sharp all netted goals to give the Tigers the 12-1 win.

The victory makes Warsaw 14-2-1 on the season, but more importantly, gives the Tigers a spot in the sectional semifinal tonight against Argos at 7 p.m.
