Warsaw Board Of Works OKs Management Service Costs

Jones and Henry Operating Services advised the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety that management services costs for the wastewater treatment plant was nearing $200,000.
The company has provided three employees at the plant for almost a year.
Friday, the board, Jerry Patterson and Charlie Smith, authorized an increase for an additional $100,000.
Plans call for the men to become city employees at a future date.
Jones & Henry Engineers also are developing a stormwater utility rate study according to an agreement dated March 5, 1999. Cost for these services is not to exceed $9,400.
In other business, the board:
• Approved a change order of $13,214.50 requested by Woodruff & Sons for work on the northeast interceptors, bringing the total project costs to $2,332,815.
• Approved additional unsafe building funds to demolish a house at 708 Brown Drive - $100 because of a typographical error and $325 to fill in an abandoned septic system - as requested by building commissioner Todd Slabaugh.
• Approved several park department requests:
- Installation of a fence by Accent Fence Co., Warsaw, was approved for not more than $9,700 on park property along the asphalted section of the Beyer Lake Trail. The fence will keep trail users off the park property and be installed 18 feet from the path.
- The purchase of a 2004 full bed three-quarter-ton pickup truck from Petro's GMC Showplace for $24,843. Other quotes came from Lakeside Chevrolet and Rice Ford.
- A $225 contract with GBC media for Fall Family Fun radio ads.
- A $130 payment to Daniel Meza for security during Celebraci-n Latina Sept. 13.
• Heard from R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. regarding a four-year lease renewal for the City-County Athletic Complex.
• Approved a cost of $8,050 to VIM Recycling, Goshen, to grind brush and stumps, as requested by the street department.
• Approved hiring David Morrison and Howard Moser at a rate of $11 per hour at the wastewater treatment plant.
Approved travel requests by Elaine Call, Kip Shuter, Richard Miotto, David Ropp, Ken Thompson, Aaron Bolinger, Brooke Murphy and Brandon Schmitt.
