Indiana Department of Homeland Security sent a letter to FEMA appealing the decision April 22.

Indiana Department of Homeland Security notified the city by letter July 25 that stated portions of the following roads were approved by FEMA for resurfacing work: portions of CR 200S, Prairie Street, Miner Drive, Pikeview Drive, Country Club Lane, Biscayne Avenue, Edgewater Drive, Little Eagle Drive and Sunset Drive.

Francis requested permission to begin resurfacing portions of CR 200S, Prairie Street, Miner Drive, Pikeview Drive and Country Club Drive this year, as well as portions of Little Eagle Drive.

He said the other projects would be scheduled to be completed next year.

The projects must be completed by July 30, 2009, unless a time extension is requested and approved by Indiana Department of Homeland Security prior to the date.

Francis said Warsaw Department of Public Works also will begin work on the Argonne Road project once CR 250E is opened. The project will include replacing the pavement and existing curb from Jefferson Street south to the viaduct.

Chris Harrison, Indiana American Water, said the city has two upcoming water main projects. The projects include installing new water mains on Chestnut Street in Winona Lake and on High Street in Warsaw.

"Replacing the water mains will help improve water pressure," Harrison said.

He also said an Eagle Street booster pump station project will begin Sept. 3.

"The new pump station will help provide better water pressure south of town over by the high school," Harrison said.

A new water hydrant will be installed at the intersection of High and Market streets.

Harrison said, this fall, Indiana American Water will re-paint the water tower near Zimmer on West Center Street.

The board also approved the Wastewater Treatment Utility facility purchasing new vehicles, including an F150 truck for $15,984.40 from Rice Ford, a 1 Impala LT for $21,204.82 and a 1 Impala LS for $18,267.93 from Lakeside Chevrolet.

The other vehicles are a 2500 Crew Cab Truck for $28,882 from Petro's GMC and $3,800 for a snow plow on the Crew Cab Truck.

Brian Davison, utility manager, said the vehicles will replace a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1998 Ford Taurus, 1991 Jeep Sport, 1993 Jeep Cherokee and a 1997 Chevy 1500 4-wheel drive truck.

The board also:

n Approved a $125 contract between Warsaw Fire Department and Carl Ernsberger to make animal balloons for children for Family Safety Day at Central Park.

n Approved WFD accepting a $61,000 fire training infrastructure grant from Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

Board members are Ernie Wiggins, Jerry Patterson and Charlie Smith.
