Warsaw Board of School Trustees Tuesday heard a presentation of ways to improve the appearance of Warsaw’s Performing Arts Center.
During the work session, Robert Bucher, PAC director, said one idea is to purchase LED house lights. His visions are to bring acts that people know and want to see.
“The theater has to make a profit on every show, but needs to be affordable to sell the seats,” Bucher said. “Sponsorship and grants will aid in this.”
He said each year he would like to offer at least one children’s show and one middle and high school show.
“I will write a grant for each of these shows so the school doesn’t have any cost with the exception of busing the students over,” Bucher said.
He said an advisory committee has been formed for PAC improvements to assist with show ideas and selection, financial advice and general guidance.
He said the PAC has three main purposes: to provide a safe and state of the art facility; provide a quality facility, safe environment and state of the art equipment; and provide a clean and attractive facility.
Some projects have been installing ghost lights and banners of upcoming shows in the PAC hallway.
A grant is being worked on for new sound equipment.
“This will allow our students and staff to grow for the next decade,” Bucher said.
In other buisness, Jeanine Corson, human resources director, said there were 16 new extra curricular and 25 support staff positions filled.
David Robertson, chief academic officer, said plans are to hire an instructional math coach.
Kevin Scott, chief financial officer, provided a report.
The board also reviewed a quote from Martin Riley Architects to replace the PAC roof; a quote from Brouwer’s Carpet to replace the PAC carpet; and a quote from TalentEd for software for recruiting and records for human resources.[[In-content Ad]]
