Editor, Times-Union:
This is in reference to the letter of Dec. 26, 2014, by Gary Eppenbaugh, “War on Christmas.” I would like to thank him for this accurate and informative article.
Yes, there is a war on Christmas, Christianity, religion and morality in the public square waged vigorously by the “Freedom from Religion” organization and other like-minded groups and individuals backed by the deep pockets of the ACLU. Yes, I too read the article about the Freedom from Religion lawsuit against the tiny town in Indiana to remove the Christian manger from the public square. This organization is backed by the ACLU and this is only one of their many lawsuits attacking our religious freedoms.
I composed a three-page letter to their notorious group but then decided I would be wasting my time and stamp. If it was opened, 10 seconds later it would hit the waste bin!
What should we expect next from the above-named organization and like-minded groups and individuals? They have removed prayer, Bible reading and the Ten Commandments from our schools and courthouses and removed many crosses erected by veteran groups honoring their fallen comrades. What is next on their hit list – remove the crosses from the graves of those buried at Arlington National Cemetery? Will they bring suit to tear down or deface all buildings in Washington, D.C., that give reference to God? Will they bring suit to remove chaplains from Congress and the military; remove “In God We Trust” from our money, prohibit our churches from religious broadcast on our public airways?
When we remove all vestige of God our Creator, Christianity, religion and morality from the public square, then we fast become a nation of lawless people and evil will reign supreme!
Perhaps we should repeat in our daily prayers that phrase used by the chaplain of the U.S. Senate – ”Oh God, come down and deliver us from ourselves!”
May God continue to bless our great nation and all our people as he has since the time of our founding. I support law enforcement and a lawful society.

Understanding Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) And Using Them
Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are for people over the age of 70.5 years old. Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
